Junior College at SIS Medan: A Checklist for Success

Tomorrow’s future, specifically the skills required by future professionals, has never been more uncertain. In the World Economic Forum: The Future Of Jobs Report1, the relative magnitude of these trends and their impact on specific industries is forecasted and unpacked. As you can see in the 2022 Skills Outlook from the report below, the skills valued by employers will change dramatically over the next four years. Indeed, that change is well underway.

Many of the jobs our children will hold throughout their lives do not even exist today. This puts many parents right in the middle of this change. Many of us older parents recognise the value of traditional academic discipline, especially with the career options a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) education provides. However, we are also at a turning point with digital technology where even traditional grandparents see the obvious need to focus on adopting a learning style that will allow our children to:

  • Study abroad
  • Make friends internationally
  • Be good global citizens

“preparing our children to be able to adapt to change is a key part of a winning strategy for their success in life.”

So how do parents equip their teenagers for an uncertain world? Being book smart is no longer enough. Employers and leading universities are already recognising that a healthy, positive, well-rounded individual, with an open mind, guided by a set of established morals may have even more potential than someone who consistently ranks number one academically. While academics can’t be neglected, the research is clear: preparing our children to be able to adapt to change is a key part of a winning strategy for their success in life.

The International Baccalaureate® (IB) Diploma Programme is for students aged 16-19. The programme aims to develop students who have an excellent breadth and depth of knowledge to flourish:

  • Physically
  • Intellectually
  • Emotionally
  • Ethically

Pioneering Education

We are proud to be the first school to establish the IB Diploma Programme in Medan. We are now the only school in Medan to offer the Singapore Curriculum, Cambridge Assessment and the IB Diploma Programme.

We’re also proud of all the new and exciting changes we’ve made on campus this year. It’s a brand new school year and a brand new SIS Medan.

New Faces, New Journeys

We’re extremely excited to have grown the ranks of our world-class faculty and the global experience we gain with them joining our team is priceless. Everyone on campus feels the excitement and we’re all looking forward to where this year’s educational journey will take us.

Transformation Complete

With a comprehensive set of renovations now complete we have also reached a major milestone for our campus. With current physical improvements finished it really is a brand new SIS Medan.
