HFLC<\/a> offered exactly that experience.<\/span><\/p>\nStudents were challenged to think like entrepreneurs, identifying pressing issues in the sports industry and designing practical, research-based business solutions. Along the way, they gained meaningful exposure to marketing, finance, customer profiling, and the Business Model Canvas.\u00a0 This hands-on learning experience helped students develop problem-solving skills that go far beyond textbooks.<\/span><\/p>\nFrom Hesitation to Confidence<\/b><\/p>\n
When the challenge was first introduced to our Secondary 4 and JC1 students, many of them felt unsure. Presenting ideas to professionals connected to major international organisations felt intimidating. But with encouragement and guidance from their teacher, eight students bravely stepped forward. They formed two teams and committed themselves wholeheartedly to the challenge.<\/span><\/p>\nThey collaborated during the school term break, met online and in person, and supported each other every step of the way. What started as hesitation slowly transformed into confidence.<\/span><\/p>\nTurning Ideas into Innovation<\/b><\/p>\n
One of the most inspiring parts of the journey was watching students turn their ideas into innovative solutions.<\/span><\/p>\nThe First Team developed smart shin guards equipped with a chip to track an athlete\u2019s heart rate and vital signs. Their goal was to help sports clubs detect early signs of fatigue or injury, thereby reducing recovery costs and improving athletes\u2019 safety. On the other hand, the Second Team was considering a large option. They developed an idea to equip the high-tech stadium with a system that could connect the players, audience, and coach. It could help sports enthusiasts book football matches and connect players with their coach when players need to be replaced to avoid injury.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\nTo strengthen their concept, students conducted market research, developed questionnaires, collected data, and built their Business Model Canvas. This process gave them a firsthand look at how innovation happens in the real world through curiosity, research, teamwork, and critical thinking.<\/span><\/p>\nGaining An International Achievement<\/b><\/p>\n
Their dedication led to an impressive milestone. Out of more than 530 teams worldwide, one SIS Palembang team ranked among the Top 50 and advanced to the next stage of the competition. This achievement gave them the rare opportunity to present their ideas to representatives connected to FC Barcelona\u2019s innovation team.<\/span><\/p>\nAlthough they did not advance to the final round, their accomplishment was significant. Competing at this level required resilience, teamwork, and confidence to present original ideas on an international stage.<\/span><\/p>\nThe SIS Palembang Difference<\/b><\/p>\n
