{"id":7401,"date":"2018-10-24T07:17:44","date_gmt":"2018-10-24T07:17:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sisschools.org\/sis-pik\/2018\/10\/24\/a-culture-of-giving\/"},"modified":"2018-10-24T07:17:44","modified_gmt":"2018-10-24T07:17:44","slug":"a-culture-of-giving","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sisschools.org\/sis-pik\/id\/blog\/a-culture-of-giving\/","title":{"rendered":"SIS Pantai Indah Kapuk: A Culture of Giving"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-6990 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/sisschools.org\/sis-pik\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/7\/2018\/10\/IMG_2854e.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1000\" height=\"667\" srcset=\"https:\/\/sisschools.org\/sis-pik\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/7\/2018\/10\/IMG_2854e.jpg 1000w, https:\/\/sisschools.org\/sis-pik\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/7\/2018\/10\/IMG_2854e-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/sisschools.org\/sis-pik\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/7\/2018\/10\/IMG_2854e-768x512.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1000px) 100vw, 1000px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>It has been very sad to hear of the recent earthquake and tsunami devastating Palu and Donggala.\u00a0 Our new school term opened with a moving, full school assembly to remember the fallen in Sulawesi.\u00a0\u00a0As a school we stood united, in a minute of silence, to remember those who lost their lives.\u00a0\u00a0This is yet another heart breaking earthquake, one in a series of many, shaking Indonesia to its core.\u00a0\u00a0The ceremony was incredibly touching.\u00a0\u00a0Our teachers and non teaching staff shared prayers from all the religions represented at SISPIK.\u00a0\u00a0We stood united in prayer, faith and peace.<\/p>\n<p>As we stood in silence to remember those who have lost homes, loved ones and even their lives \u2013 amongst the despair and sadness of the ruins of Sulawesi, I felt glimmer of hope.\u00a0\u00a0I felt hopeful because even in our darkest moments, the love of our SISPIK community thrives.\u00a0\u00a0I have an inbox of emails from students keen to fundraise, eager to help and excited to be part of rebuilding Sulawesi.\u00a0\u00a0Our students care deeply for those less fortunate than themselves.\u00a0\u00a0They care fervently for their fellow Indonesians facing adversity and hardship.\u00a0\u00a0At every opportunity \u2013 they want to extend a caring hand to help.<\/p>\n<p>I thank our parents for entrusting us with your children each day.\u00a0\u00a0We are a school joyously filled by children who want to give back. Our children strive to make the world a better place. I feel incredibly proud to be part of SISPIK.<\/p>\n<p><strong>An update on our fundraising efforts<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>We would sincerely like to thank you for your support for our appeal for the Lombok earthquake.\u00a0 \u00a0We raised almost 85 million rupiah!\u00a0 We appreciate the very generous support from our SISPIK community.\u00a0 Over the October break, a team of JC students, Mr Guntur and Ms Agus visited Lombok to distribute your donations.
