It\u2019s no surprise then, that they are a world leader in \u201cedutech\u201d: education technology. While Korean firms manufacture some of the most advanced hardware for smart classrooms around the world like smartboards, virtual reality headsets and device managers, the South Korean government is now introducing AI-based personalised learning<\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/english.etnews.com\/20190906200002\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><sup>2<\/sup><\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. This type of innovation means Koreans are no stranger to new technology and Korean students are not intimidated by an increasingly tech-oriented 21st century.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Discipline<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Civil morality is one of the bedrock elements of all South Korean schooling<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/borgenproject.org\/8-facts-about-education-in-south-korea\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><sup>3<\/sup><\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and this manifests itself in a tremendous (and required) respect for all mentors, especially teachers. Each class begins with students standing and bowing with a deep reverence implied and reinforced by the family unit at home. The result is students know where they stand and there is not as much disruption in the classroom due to unruly behaviour. Students in grade one and two take classes like \u201cGood Life,\u201d \u201cHappy Life\u201d and \u201cWise Life\u201d\u00a0 that reaffirm South Korean values<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> emphasizing happiness and discipline<\/span><b>. <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">While discipline in Korean schools may seem harsh from a Western perspective, it is in large part due to the highly disciplined classroom environment that Korean students produce such high STEM outcomes.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Future-Oriented Curriculum<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">According to the official South Korean Ministry of Education\u2019s goal<\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/english.moe.go.kr\/sub\/info.do?m=020101&amp;s=english\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><sup>4<\/sup><\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> for their \u201c7th Curriculum\u201d, the goal is to <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cprepare students for the 21st century, the era of globalization and knowledge-based society, the Seventh Curriculum attempts to break away from the spoon-fed and short-sighted approach to education of the past towards a new approach in the classroom to produce human resources capable of facing new challenges.\u201d<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The 7th Curriculum defines the desired image of an educated person as follows:<\/span><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A person who seeks individuality as the basis for the growth of the whole personality<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A person who exhibits a capacity for fundamental creativity<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A person who pioneers a career path within the wide spectrum of culture<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A person who creates new value on the basis of understanding the national culture<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A person who contributes to the development of the community on the basis of democratic civil consciousness.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Korean schools produce young adults ready to compete in an increasingly challenging world.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">At SIS Group of schools we also believe technology is <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/sisschools.org\/blog\/2019\/05\/technology-in-tomorrows-classroom-panel-discussion\/?hilite=%27jaspal%27\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">an important tool for classrooms<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, discipline helps ensure safe and inclusive learning environments in <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/sisschools.org\/blog\/2019\/02\/embracing-change-in-education-facing-rapid-change-with-confidence\/?hilite=%27alvin%27\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">a time of change<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and the above educational goals match our own <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/sisschools.org\/about-sis\/#our-values\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">mission<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">: <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cTo spark curiosity and inquiry while developing values and 21st century skills.
