Welcome to the start of the 2026–2027 academic year at SIS Medan! August has been an extraordinary month filled with record-breaking academic achievements, campus enhancements, and vibrant events that bring our school family together.

🏆 Benchmark Academic Accomplishments

Our students continue to set the standard for academic excellence across North Sumatra:

• IB Diploma: Achieved the   #1 highest IB results in Medan, cementing our standing as the region’s top academic program.
• IGCSE Examinations: An incredible achievement of   32 A* and   48 A grades across 30 candidates.
• Secondary Cambridge Checkpoint: Results in   English, Mathematics, and Science scored   well above the world average.
• Primary Cambridge Checkpoint: Results in   English and Science exceeded the   world average.

Summer Renovations: “More Than Renovations, A Better Experience for Every Student”

Over the summer, our facilities underwent major transformations designed to support holistic learning, safety, and community comfort:

• Modernized   Preschool Classrooms built for early discovery and the Galaxy Gym dedicated to early childhood physical development. 
• An upgraded   Library for focused reading and research; a dedicated   Makerspace to foster STEM design and hands-on building; and an expanded sound-optimized Music Room for practice and collaboration; as well as an expanded outdoor   Dining Area.
• A covered   Drop-Off Canopy to protect students during rain or shine has been completed; along with an upgraded   Drainage System to prevent water accumulation during heavy rains.
• The   Parent Lounge for families to connect and wait is comfort is scheduled to be completed next month. Upgraded   Drainage System to prevent water accumulation during heavy rains.
• Active & Athletic Spaces: The   Canopy Basketball Court for all-weather sports; an upgraded   Multi-Purpose Hall (MPH) with enhanced performance flooring, lighting, and sound are scheduled to be completed later in the school year.

☕ Coffee Mornings & Campus Life

• Care, Protect, Educate: Our first Parent Coffee Morning introduced this year’s guiding theme, focusing on student wellbeing, safeguarding, and academic growth.
• Mandarin Program Overview: Our second session offered parents an in-depth look at language pathways at SIS Medan.
• Indonesian Independence Day (Aug 14): A lively celebration of culture, games, and national pride.
• First Flag Ceremony (Aug 18): Our students gathered for the first solemn flag ceremony of the school year.
• CCA Launch: Co-Curricular Activities are now active across Preschool, Primary, and Secondary divisions.
