Western Association of Schools and Colleges Initial Visit

western association

On 22–24 February 2026, the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) accrediting team conducted their initial visit at SIS Medan. We were honored to welcome Ms Dawn Rock and Mr Mark Jenkins, who spent two and a half days meeting with school leaders, teachers, parents, and students. They observed classes, reviewed school programs, and listened carefully to feedback from our community. The visit was both positive and constructive, highlighting our strengths and identifying areas where we can continue to grow.

WASC is an international accrediting organization based in the United States. Its role is to evaluate schools to ensure they meet high standards of education, leadership, student support, and continuous improvement. Being a WASC-accredited school means that SIS Medan is recognized for providing quality education that meets international standards. This is important for parents because it gives assurance that their children are studying in a school that is regularly reviewed and committed to excellence.

For students, WASC accreditation brings many benefits. It means their learning experience is globally recognized, which can help when applying to universities in different countries. It also ensures that teaching methods, curriculum, and student support systems are carefully planned and continuously improved. In simple terms, WASC accreditation helps make sure that your children receive a strong, balanced, and meaningful education that prepares them well for the future.

We sincerely thank the group of parents, students, and teachers for their valuable contributions during the interviews and activities conducted by the WASC team. Parents shared honest feedback and strong support for the school’s mission and vision. Students confidently spoke about their learning experiences, and teachers demonstrated professionalism and teamwork throughout the preparation and visit.

This successful initial visit reflects the collective effort of our entire school community, and we look forward to continuing this journey of growth together.
