SIS Palembang Shines Globally with Gold Award at the Cambridge Science Competition 2025

Six talented students from SIS Palembang have achieved a remarkable milestone after both school teams earned Gold Awards in the Cambridge Science Competition held last October. Competing in separate groups, the students carried out their own scientific investigations and successfully met all Gold standard criteria. This impressive double victory has earned both teams a place in the International Final Round this coming December.
Celebrating Excellence in the Cambridge Science Competition

The Cambridge Science Competition is a prestigious global program that nurtures young scientists through hands-on investigation, teamwork, and real world problem solving. Open to learners studying Cambridge IGCSE and O Level Science, the competition challenges participants to work in teams over twenty to twenty five hours to conduct an investigation that is practical, meaningful to the community, and aligned with sustainable practices.
Strong Inquiry Skills and Sustainable Thinking
Representing SIS Palembang, both teams demonstrated outstanding scientific inquiry, critical thinking, and collaboration. Guided by their science teachers, each group applied the full scientific method. They selected a research topic, designed and conducted experiments, analysed results, and evaluated their findings.
Their projects stood out for strong scientific foundations, real world relevance, and thoughtful integration of sustainability, making their Gold level achievement truly well deserved.
What a Gold Award Means in the Cambridge Science Competition
Earning a Gold Award is a significant accomplishment that reflects a project meeting the highest international standards. Gold level projects are reviewed by Cambridge expert judges for top global categories such as Best in Region, Best in Country, Engineering, and Sustainability Awards.
Advancing to the finals places our students among the most promising young scientists across Cambridge schools worldwide.
