As the new academic year begins, SIS Palembang welcomes another opportunity for students to step forward and demonstrate their leadership potential while shaping the school community through the Student Council 2026/2027 selection process.

The selection process began with the Pre-Selection stage, where students submitted motivational letters expressing their interest in joining the Student Council Selection and their ideas for contributing to school life. With many students interested in joining the Student Council, the panel carefully assessed each letter based on the students’ motivation and leadership potential. Up to five students from each class were then selected to proceed to the next stage, with three students finally chosen to participate in the Leadership Program.

On Tuesday, 8 September 2026, SIS Palembang initiated its yearly Leadership Program aimed to enhance students’ leadership and teambuilding skills. This program also acts as a test for the selection process of the 2026/2027 Student Council. During the program, students are divided into 5 groups, aiming to improve communication and make new friends. In addition, SIS Palembang also provided workshops that teaches students on what it means to be a leader, how to solve problems effectively as well as tips and tricks in public speaking. 

Following the Leadership Program, the results were announced on Wednesday, 9 September 2026, marking the formation of the new Student Council team for the 2026/2027 academic year. The selected students will take on the responsibility of representing their peers, supporting school initiatives, and contributing to the wider school community. The new team includes the Core Team, made up of the Head, Deputy Head, Secretary, and Treasurer, alongside Class Representatives from each class.

The Student Council 2026/2027 officially began its term during the Investiture Day, where the newly selected members were formally inaugurated into their respective positions. The ceremony marked an important milestone for the new council as they took an oath to uphold their responsibilities and serve the SIS Palembang community. During the event, the new Core Team and Class Representatives were introduced to the school community, officially marking the transition from the previous Student Council to the new team. The ceremony also served as a reminder of the responsibilities that come with leadership, encouraging the newly appointed members to work together, represent their peers, and contribute positively to school life throughout the academic year.

As the new Student Council begins its journey, its members look forward to putting their leadership skills into action and turning their ideas into meaningful contributions to the school community. With the support from the whole school community, the 2026/2027 Student Council hopes to create a positive school environment while continuing to grow as leaders.
