They have intensely studied six subjects in the WSC 2018 curriculum under the theme: An Entangled World – Special Area (Human Relationships), History (History of Diplomacy), Art & Music (Braving the Distance), Science (The Science of Memory), Social Studies (Black Markets) and Literature (Voices of the Inseparable).

BASKETBALL
A huge congratulations to our basketballers at the SMAK 6 Penabur Cup in October. Our boys very bravely fought for third place. They played like Lions, with a strong offence, and great team spirit. However, the tournament belonged to our Girls team who stormed to first place.. The girls demonstrate great sportsmanship and are role models for our student body. How students deal with the emotions of winning and even losing, are important to build character. We are so proud SIS-PIK is garnering a reputation as the school of sportsmanship.
SWIMMING
A huge congratulations to our students who competed in the Beacon Academy Swimming Competition Saturday 10th November. The training and long term efforts of our swimmers reminds us of the words of Pat Riley “Excellence is the gradual result of always striving to do better.” SISPIK swimmers earned 2 Bronze medals.
WRITING
In October of this year, our English Language A students in JC1 entered an essay writing contest. Two of our students reached the final round! On October 26th at the Pullman Hotel Thamrin our finalists had to present for 5 mins based on the ideas and concepts brought forth in the essay. I am pleased to share that out over 200 finalists, two of JC1 came in the top 5.
MOVING FROM ASPIRATIONAL TO INTENTIONAL: Transformative learning at SIS-PIK
Inspired learning means We Engage; We Inspire; We Empower. Please read below how we are moving from aspirational to intentional through transformational learning experiences.
We Engage – we create learning experiences that make students excited to learn.

IDP – INTERDISCIPLINARY PROJECTS FOR SECONDARY
Tell me, and I will forget. Show me, and I may remember. Involve me, and I will understand. This quote is as relevant today, as it was when it was first uttered by Confucius in around 450 BC. Our Secondary Science department certainly took this quote to heart when developing the IDP for this semester.
On Friday the 26th of October, Secondary students presented their solutions to the energy crisis. Students were challenged to find a solution to our dwindling supplies of fossil fuels. How can we continue to power our planet? The ideas from our students were amazing. One team looked at paving slabs to convert energy from people’s footsteps into small amounts of electrical power. Another produced an enhanced greenhouse, that increased the interior temperature significantly. The ideas were so creative and well-thought out. Each class developed a working model of sustainable energy.
Our winning Homerooms include:
Lower Secondary: Secondary 2B. The team demonstrated a way to extract energy from algae oil. The model created by the students was quite incredible.
Upper Secondary: Secondary 4B. Cap-tura. A hat-like device to extract body heat from the head which could be used as an energy source. An incredibly creative idea that captures the hearts of the judges.
Our Secondary Science teachers pass on their love and passion for Science by giving our students the opportunity to dream, create and excel. The focus on inquiry and scientific discovery encourages a love for learning.
We Inspire – we create learning experience that make students want to learn more.
All Jakarta Honor Orchestra at SPH on Saturday 10th of November
Our orchestra was incredibly honoured to be invited to join the very best performers in Jakarta as part of All Jakarta Honor Orchestra at SPH on Saturday 10th of November. Our musicians represented SIS-PIK proudly, and the performance was delightful.
MANDARIN SHOW AND TELL
In November our pre-schoolers hosted the Mandarin Show and Tell. All our N2, K1 and K2 children performed in front of a very supportive audience of parents and teachers. The children very successfully showcased what they have learned in Mandarin lessons. The objective of this activity is to develop the children’s creative expressions, confidence and self-esteem in the form of : greetings in Mandarin, singing Mandarin songs or rhymes and playing short story drama. The performances were wonderful, and the children were incredibly proud to show what they had learned. Parents were joyously surprised to see how much the children had learned Mandarin language.
We Empower – we create learners who to create their own learning experiences.
HALLOWEEN BAZAAR 3rd NOVEMBER
Our students have also been working hard to investigate fun and interesting ways to fundraise. The Halloween Bazaar was a great success, and our students should be congratulated. This is an entirely student-driven initiative that involves all students from Sec 1 to JC2. The students raised over 8 million for SISwa Peduli Bangsa.
GREEN WEEK – 5th – 9th November
Green Week was another important student-led initiative, and demonstrates the warm and caring leadership from our JC. Our JC want to inspire a sustainable Green Movement in the school. They worked with the Primary students to help them understand the importance of recycling and even made them all vegetarians for a day! I am very pleased to see the students try to create the very best school they can.
FAMILY DAY BAZAAR – SATURDAY, 10 NOVEMBER 2018
Our annual SIS-PIK Family Day Bazaar came together on Saturday, 10 November 2018. This a very special day, when the whole school comes together to raise funds for our school charity; Siswa Peduli Bangsa. All students from P4 to JC1 are involved; putting together stalls, creating performances in order to raise money. The theme for this year was: Beautiful Indonesia; Celebrating the beauty of Indonesia through caring for our environment (Go Green); a wonderful way to celebrate the end of Green Week. The day was very special with songs and dances performed in the Multi Purpose Hall (MPH).
Watch us as we continue to grow and improve towards Greater Heights.
