Jakarta, October 2025 — SIS South Jakarta proudly celebrates the success of its alumni, Selena (Sierissa) and Guenevere Soemakno, who have just released their debut single, “Be Your Baby.” The song marks an inspiring milestone in their creative journey, blending soulful energy, heartfelt storytelling, and a passion nurtured since their early years at SIS.

From SIS South Jakarta to the World of Music

Both proud SIS South Jakarta alumni, the Soemakno sisters have transformed their creativity into music. Their first original single, Be Your Baby, captures emotion and authenticity through lyrics written by Sierissa and performed together with her sister Guenevere.

At SIS, creativity and confidence are part of every student’s journey. Sierissa’s years at SIS were filled with experiences that shaped her artistic voice, from being part of the Student Council and Graduation Committee to performing during assemblies and participating in the SIS Cup. These experiences helped her grow as a storyteller and performer, skills that continue to shine in her music today.

A Journey of Learning and Inspiration

After graduating with an IB Diploma in 2017, Sierissa continued her education and creative journey across the globe, from the Netherlands to Hong Kong and now Southern California.
She earned her Master’s in Arts & Society from Utrecht University, graduating Cum Laude. Her academic path reflects SIS’s mission to nurture lifelong learners who are globally minded and socially conscious.

Her younger sister, Guenevere Soemakno, who attended SIS Primary, is now pursuing her passion for film and media in California. She is studying Cinema and Television Arts, majoring in Entertainment Media Management with double minors in Business Law and Political Science.

Building Creativity Beyond the Classroom

The Soemakno sisters’ journey is a testament to the SIS philosophy that learning goes beyond the classroom. Through programs that foster confidence, creativity, and leadership, SIS empowers students to discover their passions and express themselves in meaningful ways.

Sierissa credits her SIS experience, especially her English classes, for sparking her love for writing and storytelling. Today, she channels that inspiration into her music, crafting songs that reflect both emotional intelligence and a global perspective.

With lyrics that resonate deeply and melodies that uplift, Sierissa and Guenevere are making their mark on the international music scene while proudly carrying the SIS spirit with them.
