Strengthening ties across borders, Raffles Institution and Singapore Intercultural School (SIS) Group of Schools have entered into a new chapter of collaboration through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).

The Partnership between Raffles Institution and SIS Group of Schools

The partnership letter was officially signed at Raffles Institution by Mr. Aaron Loh, Principal of Raffles Institution, and Mr. Jaspal Sidhu, Founder and Chairman of SIS Group of Schools. This partnership marks a renewed commitment to fostering regional connections, with plans to initiate exchange programmes for students and staff from both institutions.

A key highlight of this collaboration is a specially curated Indonesian immersion programme for Year 4 Rafflesians, scheduled to take place in September 2025. The programme is designed to offer meaningful engagement with Indonesia’s culture, society, and educational environment, providing students with first-hand experience that bridges classroom learning and real-world understanding.

A Legacy of Collaboration and Shared Vision

This partnership is especially significant given the long-standing historical ties between the two institutions. Mr. Jaspal Sidhu, an alumnus of Raffles Institution (Class of ’78/’80), founded SIS with the vision of making quality education more accessible and affordable across Indonesia. The first SIS school was in Jakarta in 1996, originally known as the Singapore International School. The school was initially headed by Mr. S. Magendiran, Raffles Institution’s current Advisor for Special Projects and Alumni Relations, who was seconded to SIS for two years. Additionally, Mr. Eugene Wijeysingha, former Headmaster of Raffles Institution, served as Advisor to SIS during the same period after his retirement.

Today, SIS stands as a leading group of international schools across 15 locations, 11 cities, and 4 countries, grounded in Singapore curriculum, world-class curricula, and an intercultural ethos.
