Indonesian Schools Get a Breath of Fresh Air

Singapore Intercultural School’s campuses become Nation’s First Clean Air Zone campuses in Partnership with Nafas

1 Indonesian Schools Get a Breath of Fresh Air

Jakarta, Indonesia – 18 July 2024 – Singapore Intercultural School (SIS) is proud to reaffirm its commitment to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDGs) by partnering with air quality expert Nafas to create Clean Air Zones (CAZ) across ten SIS campuses in Indonesia. This initiative aims to ensure over 4,500 students have access to cleaner and healthier air, supporting the UNSDGs related to health, well-being, and quality education.

SIS is dedicated to providing the best possible learning conditions, and this partnership with Nafas is a clear demonstration of that commitment. By using Nafas’s advanced air quality systems, SIS ensures that students in cities like Jakarta, Bandung, Medan, Surabaya, Cilegon, Semarang, and Palembang  will enjoy a healthier school environment.

The pilot program at the SIS school in South Jakarta has shown impressive results. Classrooms with the new air quality technology saw a significant reduction in air pollution, creating a better environment for learning and overall student well-being.

The ongoing monitoring of air quality in SIS schools helps maintain a safe and healthy atmosphere for both students and staff. This proactive approach addresses concerns about the impact of poor air quality on children’s health and learning, which can include issues like lower test scores, cognitive development problems, and respiratory conditions.

As a leading school in Indonesia, SIS continues to set high standards for educational excellence and good governance. The successful introduction of Clean Air Zones highlights SIS’s dedication to providing a safe and supportive learning environment, showcasing its role as a pioneer in educational innovation.

This initiative is an inspiring example for other schools in Indonesia and beyond. By focusing on air quality, SIS emphasizes the importance of a comprehensive approach to education that values both academic success and the well-being of students.
